Data Collection
Data Collection Mode
The Seasonal Agricultural Survey (SAS) 2024 employed a two-phase data collection approach. The screening phase, conducted during the planting period, involved delineating plots and recording data on land use, crops, and expected harvesting periods. The second phase focused on collecting detailed data on crop production, agricultural inputs, and practices from identified plots. The survey covered all 30 districts in Rwanda, with data collected from 1,200 segments and large-scale farmers during Seasons A (December–March), B (April–August), and C (September–October), achieving a 100% response rate. Fieldwork was conducted by trained enumerators and team leaders, with rigorous supervision to ensure data quality. Two main questionnaires were used: the Screening Questionnaire and the Plot Interview Questionnaire. Data collection tools included Arc GIS Field Maps for GPS-based crop area measurement, CSPro software for data management, and Survey123 for large-scale farmer screening.
